Our Mission, Mass Care Overview, valid driver's license, minimum
age 21. Mass Care Overview is a self-study course that you

FEMA
EMI: Emergency Management Institute
All Red Cross disaster volunteers with a direct role in emergnecy
preparedness, incident management or response are required
to complete FEMA's IS-100 and IS-700 courses. IS-200 and IS-800
courses are recommended. Once you have completed the required
courses, you must print out the certificate at the end of
the training and submit it to the chapter for your DSHR record.
Required
FEMA Courses:
IS-100 - Introduction to Incident Command System
ICS-100 is the self-study introduction course to the Incident
Command System. It introduces the basic functions of the Incident
Command System and provides the foundation for higher level
ICS training. This course describes the history, features
and principals, and organizational structure of the Incident
Command System. It also explains the relationship between
ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). To
obtain the ICA-100 course materials or take the course online,

IS-700
- National Incident Management Systems (NIMS), An Introduction
IS-700 is a web-based awareness level course that explains
NIMS components, concepts and principals. Although it is designed
to be taken online interactively, course materials may be
downloaded and used in a group or classroom setting. Answer
sheets are available from the Emergency Management Institute's
Independent Study Office at (301) 447-1256. To obtain the
IS-700 course materials or take the course online, go to:

FEMA Courses:
IS-200
- ICA for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently
during an incident or event within the Incident Command System
(ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel
who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the
ICS. ICS-100 is a pre-requisite to the IS-200 course. This
course is designed to be taken online, although printed materials
are available. For any questions related to the course materials,

IS-800
- A National Response Plan (NRP), An Introduction
IS-800 National Response Plan describes how the Federal Government
will work in concert with state, local and tribal governments
and the private sector to respond to disasters. This course
introduces the NRP. This course is designed to be taken online.
