A
note about our class times: Classes
are scheduled as such to ensure adequate time for all students
to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the
class and feel confident in their ability to respond to
life-threatening emergencies. Class times are an estimation
of how long it will take a class of 12-15 students to successfully
complete our courses. Occasionally classes may end 1-3 hours
earlier than expected depending on the course, the number
of students enrolled, the number of questions students have,
and how quickly the students in that particular class learn
and move through the components of the course. Please understand
that because of these variables each class may be different
in terms of time it takes to complete. Because we cannot
predict these circumstances, class times have been set to
allow adequate time for all students to successfully complete
our courses and an early release from a course does not
mean that the instructor has not taught the full course
as it is designed.
Why
Do I Need to Know CPR?
Because you may one day have to save the life of someone
you love. Sudden cardiac arrest claims 220,000 American
lives every year. It can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone.
For every minute that cardiac arrest goes untreated, the
chance of survival decreases by 10%. The best chance of
survival is to receive life-saving CPR and defibrillation
(an electric shock that can restore an effective heart rhythm)
within the first four minutes of collapse. Whether you have
to save the life of someone you love or the life of a stranger,
we want you to be prepared. See the drop-down menu above
for the schedule of first aid and CPR classes that we offer
to the public. There is no age minimum required to attend
a class, however, a weight of 90 lbs. or more and at least
a 7th grade level is required. Whether you need to fulfill
a specific work requirement or you are interested in learning
skills for your personal interest, the Red Cross has a safety
class for you.
Choosing
the Right Class for You
American Red Cross Training programs are designed to give
you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation
with skills that can save a life. The American Red Cross
Pikes Peak Chapter offers training opportunities for all
ages. Whether your work with children, want training for
a new or existing job, are a professional rescuer or simply
want to know how to help someone in an emergency, we can
help you build the skills you need. Use the chart below
