The American Red Cross works with a global network of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, as well as Israel's Magen David Adom society, to restore hope and dignity to the world's vulnerable populations. This international Red Cross movement brings emergency relief to disaster victims and improves basic living conditions of those in chronically deprived areas of the world.

Guided by our seven Fundamental Principles - Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality—the American Red Cross partners with countless organizations in the efficient and effective relief of human suffering and in the empowerment of people with the skills they need to help themselves.

The members of the International Red Cross Movement - including the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (Federation) and national societies like the American National Red Cross and Cruz Roja Mexicana - work together toward common goals during times of crisis or disaster. Programs are designed to meet ever-changing humanitarian needs and to improve the human condition.

The American Red Cross is currently working with our sister societies in Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, countries of the Soviet Union and the Americas. With the generous support of the American people, the American Red Cross has helped develop the Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies into the strongest and most respected humanitarian service organization in the world.

Many here in the Pikes Peak region have origins in other countries and keep close ties with their families who still live in those countries. When these families are unexpectedly torn apart by war, disaster or political crisis, the Pikes Peak chapter helps re-establish communication between family members when no other communication is possible.

The Pikes Peak chapter's International Services provides:

- Emergency family unification tracing and communication
- A community language bank that provides emergency translation during times of crisis
- Support of International Federation programs and initiatives

For Other Related Needs
Sponsored by the Pikes Peaks United Way, 211 is a special three-digit phone number connecting those in need in our communities with those agencies and organizations that can assist them. It is not for life-threatening emergencies, it is a service providing information and referral to local services. Now, instead of making multiple phone calls to try and find help, you can simply pick up your phone and dial 2-1-1 to find assistance.
